The best way to advertise

Probably the most asked question I get from people who are just starting their own business is what’s the best way to advertise without spending a lot of money.

Although no one wants to spend a lot of money on advertising. You really can’t afford NOT to advertise. My answer has always been to spend your time and money in finding the right place, to place your advert.

If you run a hairdressers you don’t place an ad in a gardening magazine. Ask for discounts if you place more than 1 advert, asks for editorial. All they can say is no ! But if money is tight, especially in the beginning of your new business venture take a small advert out and book a run of adverts. But make sure it’s in the right place for your business.

Want more calls ! You need to tell people what you have to offer.

Computers can be a pain, can’t they?

When it comes down to it, we know how much we rely on our phones, laptops, and PC’s and it’s a real problem when they start to play up or break. Initially our reactions are “throw it away and buy a new one” but what if you could have it repaired, which would mean you can get even more use out of it?

Computer and Laptop repairs are something I’ve been involved with for the last three years and I’ve come across some very bizarre situations, including having a mouse living in one. Nothing surprises me when I go to homes to find them dusty and cluttered.

The great news is, I’m not running as a business, I’m simply running this as my hobby, it’s what I enjoy and it’s what I do best. I’m also studying further into computing at the Isle of Wight College, so I know more and more every day so I can help you with your PC problems whenever you need me.

I’ve had many people come to me with their computer problems of recent, and I’ve been able to have a good go at all of them, and have fixed the majority.

So what can I do? I can do anything, I will attempt to fix any PC or Laptop I am given and I will never charge anybody if I fail to do so. I am also working very closely with two of my College Computing friends who can help and advise me on certain area’s I may not be so sure of. I will be happy to do jobs from reorganising your files and speeding your PC or Laptop up, to replacing screens and upgrading hardware or software.

Colour coaching – branding your business with the right colour

Branding your product or service in the right way that will attract customers/clients is a big head start on the road to being successful.

This has become even more important at a time of sluggish growth and high competition as we are experiencing at the moment. Shining out of the crowd is not just in what you do and how do you do it! Actually research has proved that what attracts many customers/clients is actually what a business “looks like”.

And that means that the colours you use for your company, your logo, your products or services, your marketing and advertising matters a great deal! Have you ever thought why Vanish is pink? Or why Vodafone is red? Or why Orange (beyond the obvious) is orange? Or why we don’t sell milk in coloured bottles?

The colours identify and mark specific products or services, colours trigger emotional responses that are connected to human psychological meanings and social/cultural values. Choose the wrong colours and you could say goodbye to your business!

Colour coaching is the best way to support you and your business choose the colours that are best associated with what you do and then to manage how you can apply and develop your brand to make sure that your company is successful.

Wight Buzz is growing

There is a real buzz in the air here on the beautiful Isle of Wight. Life is tough but we will survive. Wightbuzz was founded just over a year ago to help the Island businesses survive. During the last year, many networking meetings have taken place where members (all local small/medium businesses) have interacted with each other and business has been exchanged and referrals have been passed on.

Word of mouth is key so it’s no use being a secret squirrel. It is important for the businesses to get their messages out there. Networking is a fantastic way to do that. Getting to know other local business owners is a brilliant way to get referrals and the exchange of ideas can only be for everyone’s mutual benefit. I have made networking my business – to promote your business! (I was a finalist in the Hampshire Winning Women Business Awards in the Networking Champion Category)
Getting to know my members and their businesses is something I try very hard to do. When I understand more about their businesses, I can truly make more connections for them.

Wightbuzz
is a very affordable network group for the Isle of Wight and beyond.  Bizzness Buzz is the spin off and is about to make it’s presence felt across the UK with several areas already lining up. Why not find out more about how we can help your business? Leave a comment below. I look forward to connecting with you. Why not pop over to Wightbuzz and Bizzness Buzz and give us a like :) Please don’t be a secret squirrel. Let’s get the word out about your business!
